Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Julie Feliciano

Welcome to 5th Grade!

I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Northern Illinois University in 2002, and a master's degree in special education in 2012. I started my teaching career as an elementary substitute teacher in DeKalb County shortly after graduating in 2002. Then, I took a short break so that I could stay home with my two children. A few years later, I was introduced to the world of special education when I accepted a position as an aide at a therapeutic day school. I was offered a full time teaching position shortly after. I enjoyed working in special education so much, I decided to go back to school for my master's degree in special education. After earning my master's, I accepted a position at Southbury in the STARS program. During my time at Southbury, I have worked as a special education teacher for students in grades K-5th grade, and as 2nd grade general education teacher. I have gained so much from working in both general education and special education settings and I hope to use the skills and strategies I've learned to best meet the needs of my students. Teaching is truly my passion and I'm so excited to be teaching 3rd grade this year!
