Degrees and Certifications:
Mr. Brian Cronin
Welcome to Oswego High School! I attended Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, IL, where I received a bachelor’s degree in physical education with an emphasis in athletic training and a minor in sports medicine. At the same time, I also earned a bachelor’s degree in history. In addition, I have completed a master’s degree from Olivet Nazarene University, in Bourbonnais, IL, and a master’s in educational leadership from Benedictine University, in Lisle, IL. I currently teach courses in sports medicine, driver education, and physical education and kinetic wellness. Besides teaching, I am also a certified and licensed athletic trainer and the head athletic trainer at Oswego High School (OHS). I am especially proud of the OHS athletic training program, which received national recognition in the form of a Safe Sports School Award the team from the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) in 2014. The sports medicine program also volunteers annually at the Chicago Marathon to assist at the first aid station at the finish line. To stay current in the sports medicine field, I am a professional member of NATA, the Illinois Athletic Trainers Association IATA, and the Great Lakes Athletic Trainers Association. I am also an impact trained athletic trainer, which certifies me to evaluate impact concussion testing used on all athletes at Oswego High School.
