2022-2023 Kindergarten Registration
Age Requirement
Children registering for Kindergarten for the 2022 - 2023 school year must be 5 years old by September 1st, 2022.
Registration takes place in two steps:
- Complete the New Student Online Registration form in the Tyler Parent Portal
- Attend a Kindergarten Registration event to submit registration and residency documents.
- Please complete the New Student Registration form in the Tyler Parent Portal before you arrive at the Kindergarten Registration event
- Please bring all documents listed in the “What to Bring to the Kindergarten Registration Event”
Dual Language for Entering Kindergartners
Everyone is welcome to attend any of the four Kindergarten Registration events, team members from the schools listed will be present on the corresponding days.
Students Currently Enrolled at Brokaw
IMPORTANT! Students currently enrolled at Brokaw or a satellite preschool location (Prairie Point, Long Beach, or Wolfs Crossing) are considered Returning Students and do not need to attend a Kindergarten Registration event. Information will be sent by the Early Childhood administration for parents/guardians to complete the Returning Student Registration survey in February and the Returning Student Registration form in April.

Kindergarten Options
Full Day Kindergarten
Full Day Kindergarten Student Registration Fee = $550
Full day Kindergarten follows the elementary school schedule of 9:00am - 3:50pm which includes 50 minutes for lunch and recess. In addition, students will participate in physical education, art, music, and computers.
If enrolling your student in Full Day Kindergarten, please indicate the grade as “KE” when completing the registration process in the Tyler Portal.
Half Day Kindergarten
Half Day Kindergarten Student Registration Fee = $60
Half day Kindergarten will be offered in a morning session only. The hours for Half day Kindergarten are 9:00am - 11:35am. Due to the shortened day, the primary academic focus of Half day Kindergarten programming will be math, reading, and writing. Since our reading units are based on social studies and science, Half day Kindergarten students will have the opportunity to engage with these content areas. Half day Kindergarten students will join their full day peers for the first half of the day in a blended program.
If enrolling your student in Half Day Kindergarten, please indicate the grade as “KA” when completing the registration process in the Tyler Portal.

Important Note for Kindergarten Students:
Select “KA” for Half Day Kindergarten and “KE” for Full Day Kindergarten.
STEP 2: Appointments & Items to Bring to Registration Appointment
The District will review your Online Registration and send you information to set up an appointment.
Items to Bring to Registration Appointment
- Parent/Guardian Photo ID
- Certified birth certificate
- Only official certified birth certificates with raised seal issued by the county/country in which the student was born will be accepted. We do not accept any decorative hospital issued certificates.
- 3 current proofs of residency - documents must show name and address
Column A - must present 1 document listed below
Column B - must present 2 documents listed below
Mortgage Statement (within last 60 days)
Property Tax Bill (most recent)
Closing Papers (within last 90 days)
Housing Lease (most current & signed by all parties)
*Affidavit of Residency - both legal guardian and homeowner must be present to prove residency and produce 1 document above

Electric Bill
Phone Bill
Internet Bill
Cable Bill
Water Bill
Items that are not acceptable proofs of residency include: driver’s license/state ID, checkbooks, rent receipts, insurance papers, credit card statements
- Any existing legal custody, divorce decree, or guardianship documents
- If there are any legal documents pertaining to the custody of the student, you must provide a copy.

Health Forms/Requirements
All health forms must be turned in to your student's school (not accepted at Central Registration).

- Vision (due by Oct. 15 of the current school year)
- Dental (due no later than May 15 of the current school year)

Kindergarten Programming
