Mike DeArmond was hired in 2019 as the Assistant Director of Transportation. Mr. DeArmond has worked in transportation throughout his career, including being a dispatcher, assistant manager, and general location manager for First Student in Glen Ellyn. He worked his way through college by driving a school bus!

Mr. DeArmond earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business from Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma; a Master’s in Business Administration from Northern Illinois University DeKalb, Illinois. Mike DeArmond’s four children attend District 308 schools and his wife is an EL teacher at The Wheatlands.
 
Areas of Responsibility 
  • Oversight of safe, effective and efficient transportation services for district students.
  • Oversight of department employees, policies and procedures.
  • Oversight of school bus leasing and department purchasing programs.
  • Processing of the State Reimbursement Claim.
  • Transportation budget.
  • Continuous collaboration with internal and external personnel, including public agencies, parents, transportation regulation agencies and vendors to support exceptional customer service.
