As the Director of Human Resources, Kenneth Miller is responsible for all aspects of Human Resources management, including employee and labor relations, performance evaluations, recruitment and selection, onboarding, compensation, benefits, payroll and compliance.

Miller has a Bachelor of Science, Management: Human Resources from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, Illinois and a Master of Public Administration, Public Management & Leadership from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, Illinois. Prior to working at SD 308, Miller was the Senior H.R. Specialist/Principal Consultant for the Illinois State Board of Education.

Ms. Valerie Patterson

Executive Director of District Student Services
vpatterson@sd308.orgValerie Patterson has more than a decade's worth of experience working in educational administration. As the director of district student services, Patterson works with district principals and is responsible for student-related concerns including discipline and district-wide positive behavioral support systems, the GOAL program, student safety and crisis planning, student attendance and residency, and district homeless services and resources.

Prior to joining Oswego, she was principal of Big Rock Elementary School, and then assistant superintendent for curriculum and support for the Plano School District. She received her bachelor’s in elementary education from Aurora University, Chicago, and her master’s degree in educational administration from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb.

Mrs. Theresa Komitas

Director of Communications and Public Relations

As the Director of Communications and Public Relations, Theresa Komitas is responsible for all aspects of Communications management within School District 308, including media and community references.
 
Komitas obtained her associate of science from Kishwaukee College, DeKalb, Illinois, her bachelors of science, Health Promotions from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, Illinois and her masters in business administration from Kaplan University.  Prior to coming to School District 308, she served as the Director of Marketing and Public Relations at Northwestern Medicine. Prior to that, she worked at KishHealth System, as the Director of Marketing and Public Relations. She also serves as a school board member for Mendota Elementary CUSD 289.
