Day 1: Wednesday 8/25/21
Objective: Students will be introduced to why we study human geography.
Activities:
- Give them the Unit 1 and 2 Pre - Test
- “Why study geography?” PPT
- Students will take notes

Day 2: Thursday, 8/26/21
Objective: Students will be able to identify & explain the 5 themes of geography. Students will be able to understand how they can make them relevant to their lives. Activities:
- 5 Themes of Geography PPT
- Complete Guided Notes (Slides 1-17)

Day 3: Friday, 8/27/21
Objective: Students will be introduced to the unit vocab chart and map / quiz procedures.Students will be able to analyze and identify different types of maps
Activities:
- Explain the Unit 1 vocab sheet / USA Map (10 min)
- Focus Question: Draw a map (10 min)
-I will call on several students to show me their maps.
- Types of Maps with notes guide PPT (15 min)
- Explain the Map Activity that they will start in class. Students will look at 8 different types of maps and then complete the W.S. describing what type of map it is and will also describe what the topic of the maps are.
HW: Unit 1 Vocab and U.S. Map Quiz is next Wednesday (9/8). Due 10 vocab words tonight

Day 4: Monday, 8/30/21
Objective: Students will analyze and identify different types of maps. Students will be able to distinguish the three different types of Regions.
Activities:
- Finish the map activity. Students will look at 8 different types of maps and then complete the W.S. describing what type of map it is and will also describe what the topic of the maps are.
- Discuss the three different types of Regions by taking notes & looking at pictures from the PPT (slides 18-27)
- Oswego H.S. - Ask students for examples of each type of region (5 Min)
HW: Complete 10 more vocab words. Unit 1 Vocab and U.S. Map quiz is Tuesday, 9/7

Day 5: Tuesday, 8/31/21
Objective: Students will demonstrate their knowledge of Key Issue #2 by taking a quiz. Students will write and read about latitude and longitude.
Activities:
- Key Issue #2 Reading Guide Quiz is today
- Focus Question “Identify this map” on the board
- Latitude and Longitude PPT with notes
HW: Complete Latitude and Longitude W.S.
Complete 10 Vocab Words by
Day 6: Wednesday, 9/1/21
Objective: Students will read, research, draw and compare/contrast different map projections
Activities:
- Watch the video on “Projections, Why Most World Maps are Wrong”
- Look at the Interactive Website “True Size of Countries”
- Scale/Projection PPT w/ notes
HW: Complete the “Scale” side of the W.S.

Objective: Students will analyze the different tools modern day geographers use. Students will watch a video and discuss the different tools modern day geographers use. Students will analyze different regions of the US.
Activities:
- Students will explain scale
- Watch “Power of the Geographic Information System” & “Geospatial Revolution Future of Geography (25 Min)
- Students will take notes on Contemporary Tools PPT “Modern Day” mapping. (15 min)

Objective. Students will define globalization. Students will complete a WebQuest about Globalization and write a paragraph describing one advantage or disadvantage to globalization.
Activities:
- Global Clothing Pre-Lesson Investigation Activity
- Complete Web Quest: “Planet Money Makes a T-Shirt”
HW: Complete the “Planet Money Makes a T- Shirt” Webquest

Labor Day: No school, 9/6/21
Day 9: Wednesday, 9/8/21
Objective: Students will demonstrate their knowledge of the Unit 1 vocabulary words & of the United States.Students will define globalization. Students will complete a WebQuest about Globalization and write a paragraph describing one advantage or disadvantage to globalization.
Activities:
- Students will take the Unit 1 Vocab and U.S. map quiz
- Turn in U.S. Map and Vocab chart
- Discuss the Webquest
- What is globalization
- What are the advantages and drawbacks of Globalization?
- Inform the students that the essay portion of their test will be an FRQ on globalization or diffusion (5 Min)
- Discuss the 4 types of Diffusion
HW: Key Issue #4 due tomorrow (9/9/21).
Day 10: Thursday, 9/9/21
Objective: Students will analyze the different types of diffusion. Students will write about the importance of diffusion & what helps/hinders diffusion. Students will identify/give an example for the 5 different types of diffusion.
Activities:
- Complete the Diffusion in groups
- Watch the video on Possibilism vs. Environmentalism (15 Min.)
- I will ask them a couple of scenarios to see if they understand the differences (5 Min.).
HW: Assign AP Classroom Unit 1 Questions / Due Tuesday, 9/14/21

Day 11: Friday, 9/10/21
Objective: Students will review for the Unit 1 Exam
Activities:
- Remind students how the write an FRQ the proper way (ABCD’s of writing an FRQ) (10 Min)
- Play Kahoot to review for the Unit 1 Test
HW: Study for the Unit 1 Test
Day 12: Monday, 9/13/21
Objective: Students will demonstrate their knowledge of Unit 1 by writing an FRQ essay.
Activities:
- Students will write the Unit 1 FRQ.
HW: Study for the Unit 1 Test M/C Test
Day 13: Friday, 9/14/21
Objective: Students will be assessed on Unit 1 through the M/C Test
Activities:
- Take the Unit 1 M/C test.
HW: Complete Ch. 2, Key Issue #1.
