Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Samantha Blaszynski Melendez

This is my fourth year at Old Post Elementary School. Prior to this, I was the Gifted Education teacher at Hunt Club Elementary and Long Beach Elementary Schools in School District 308. I began my teaching career in the classroom and have taught first through fourth grades. This year I am excited to be back in the classroom teaching 4th grade!

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, in 1998. I also have a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix, which I received in 2008. I am currently working toward my Doctorate of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Aurora University. Additional endorsements that I have received include Gifted Education from the State of Illinois for grades K-8 and Middle School endorsements in Language Arts and Spanish.

I am passionate about gifted education and have been a member of IAGC for the past several years. I am also a trainer for the State of Illinois Gifted Education Seminar. I am looking forward to growing as an educator this year in 4th grade.
