Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Cassie Day

School Supplies:

Everything that your first grader needs to bring is on the Long Beach school supply list.  I will notify you if your child needs extra supplies throughout the year.

EVERY day First Grade will have a snack break.  Please send a healthy snack for your child to eat.  A few examples of a healthy snack are fresh veggies, fruit, trail mix, cheese, crackers, pretzels, etc. Do not send chips, candy or other junk food.  This is a great break for your child, and will provide him/her energy to get through each day.  Please let me know if your child has a specific allergy to foods.  I will let you know if there are any other food allergies in our classroom.

Water Bottles:

I believe it is important children are hydrated throughout the day.  Your child may bring a small pull-top water bottle to school every day.  These are great because the lid does not come all the way off, so we have fewer spills.

Please follow the Oswego District policy concerning birthdays.  Children are NOT to bring birthday treats to school.  We can’t have any food or drinks for birthday celebrations.  Your child can bring in goodie bags (without candy or food) with small prizes, pencils, books, etc., although it is not necessary to bring anything.  Birthdays are very exciting to children, so we will celebrate it by singing “Happy Birthday” our own special way and your child will get to wear a birthday crown for the day.

Day’s Daily News:

Every week a newsletter will be sent home indicating what we have been doing in class during the week.  Reminders and other important information will also be included.

My goal with assigning homework is to promote togetherness, and to provide extra practice for your child on skills we have done in class. The daily assignments will be reading 10 minutes every night (Baggie Books), practicing math facts or a math homework page, and reviewing High Frequency Words. All assignments sent home encourage parent involvement and can be completed with the help of an adult.

Take Home Folder:

Every day your child will bring home their Take Home Folder.  In this folder you will find assignments, notes, newsletters, etc. Please check this folder each night, empty it, and have your child bring it back to school every morning.
