Renaissance and Reformation – Unit 2
Day 1: Monday, Sept. 13th, 2021
Objective: Students will be introduced to the Renaissance time period.
Activity:
- Read and discuss the Intro to the Renaissance Reading / Questions
- Intro to the Renaissance Pear Deck PPT w/ Guided Notes (Slides #1-#10)
HW: Read Ch. 1, Sec 1 and answer the 8 questions.
Day 2: Tuesday, Sept. 14th, 2021
Objective: Students will be introduced to the art and architecture of the Renaissance period.
Activities:
- Renaissance Art Perspective Activity
- Renaissance “Pear Deck PPT on Art and Architecture

Day 3: Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2021
Objective: Students can work on their Renaissance Project
Activities:
- Renaissance “Pear Deck PPT on Art and Architecture
- Introduce the Renaissance Project
- Students will choose their Artist
HW: Studentsthink about what subject / topic they are passionate about.
Day 4: Thursday, Sept. 16, 2021
Objective: Students will understand how writers used Humanism in their style of writing during the Renaissance. We will focus on Machiavelli and his use of Humanism. We will focus on Machiavelli and his use of Humanism.
Activities:
- PPT on the Writers of the Renaissance / Guided Notes
- Students will complete a SOAPSTone while reading Machiavelli.
- Teacher will then read the article and we will discuss using the SOAPSTone W.S.
HW: Work on Renaissance Project
Final Artist Paper is due Wednesday and their original work is due next Thursday.
Day 5: Friday, Sept. 17, 2021
Objective: Students will work on their Renaissance Project
Activities:
- Work Time: Students will be able to work on the Renaissance Project
- They may work on their original work or the Renaissance artist paper.
HW: Work on Renaissance Project
Final Artist Paper is due Wednesday and their original work is due next Thursday.
Day 6: Monday, Sept. 20, 2021
Objective: Students will work on their Renaissance Project
Activities:
- Work Time: Students will be able to work on the Renaissance Project
- They may work on their original work or the Renaissance artist paper.
HW: Work on Renaissance Project
Final Artist Paper is due Wednesday and their original work is due Thursday.
Day 7: Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2021
Objective: Students will understand how the Renaissance spread to other parts of Europe.
Activities:
- BW: Outside of Italy, who were the most influential people in Europe? (Gutenberg, Luther, Shakespeare
- BW: Why was Johann Gutenberg is called the most influential man of the past 1000 years?
- Shakespeare and Northern Renaissance PPT (30 Min.)
HW: Read Ch. 1, Sec. #2 and complete the Section questions (W.S.)
Final Artist Paper is due tomorrow and their original work is due Thursday.
Day 8: Wednesday, Sept. 22,2021
Objectives: Students will work on their Renaissance Project

Day 9 : Thursday, Sept. 23, 2021
Objectives: Students will present what they know about the characteristics of the Renaissance time period by explaining their project to the class.

Day 10 : Friday, Sept. 24, 2021
Objectives: Students will present what they know about the characteristics of the Renaissance time period by explaining their project to the class.

Day 11: Monday, Sept. 27, 2021
Objective: Students will present what they know about the characteristics of the Renaissance time period by explaining their project to the class. Students will play Kahoot to review the Renaissance.
Activities:
- Finish the Renaissance Presentations
HW: Read Ch. 1, Sec. #3 and complete the Section Questions
Day 12 : Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2021
Objectives: Students will analyze all the different ways we protest today and discuss what the goals of the protests are. Students will learn about the beginnings of the Protestant Reformation and what led to this movement.
Activities:
- Focus Question: How do people protest today? (Pear Deck)
- Complete the 10 Theses of Oswego H.S. and Covid 19
- Nail it to Dave Jones door
HW: Read Ch. 1, Sec. #3 and complete the Section Questions
Day 13: Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2021
Objectives: Students will learn about the 95 Theses and some of the exact issues Martin Luther had with the Church.
Activities:
- PearDeck presentation on “Intro to the Protestant Reformation” (Up to the 95 Theses)
- Complete the Guided Notes Sheet

Day 14 : Thursday, Sept. 30, 2021
Objectives: Students will learn about the beginnings of the Protestant Reformation and what led to this movement.
Activities:
- 95 Theses Excerpt analysis
- Complete the “Luther Rebels” Google Form
HW : Luther Rebels Google Form is due before class tomorrow
Day 15 : Friday, Oct. 1, 2021
Objectives: Students will learn about the Protestant Reformation and the short and long term effects of this movement.
Activities:
- We will finish the PPT on the “Beginnings of the Protestant Reformation”
- Begin watching the video “Luther”

Day 16 : Monday, Oct. 4, 2021
Objectives: Students will learn about the beginnings of the Protestant Reformation and what led to this movement.

- We will watch the video, “Luther”

Objectives: Students will learn about how the Protestant Reformation spread to England and the beginnings of the Anglican Church & the Catholic Church’s Counter Reformation

Day 21 : Monday, Oct. 9, 2021
Objectives: Students will demonstrate their understanding of the Reformation by taking the Unit 3 Quiz.
