About Camp Hope
Camp Hope is a summer camp provided to children ages 5-12 whose parents or grandparents are going through cancer treatment. This camp is offered by the Edward Foundation, which is a part of the Edward Cancer Center in Naperville, Illinois. This camp is solely funded by the “Hoops for Healing Basketball Tournament” which is run by Oswego and Naperville North High Schools. Since its inception at Oswego and Naperville North it has raised over $125,000.
Camp Hope offers arts, crafts, music, yoga, and much more for the children during their two, one week session in the summer. Coaches and players involved in “Hoops”, come out and volunteer their time to teach basketball skills to the campers.
Certainly, we feel strongly that high school athletics should offer not only quality competition, but teach our student athletes the importance of giving to a specific cause in their community. While each game will always have a winner and a loser by score, at the end of the tournament they will all be winners because of the dollars they helped raise for supporting Camp Hope.
