Ms. Colleen Brazzale
I attended Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, where I double majored in special education and elementary education with a concentration in Spanish. Upon graduation, my first teaching experience was at Wheaton Warrenville South High School. I spent seven wonderful years there co-teaching English and algebra/trigonometry in addition to teaching self-contained classes in algebra, health and science. While at Wheaton Warrenville, I completed a master’s program through Aurora University, in Aurora, Ill., and earned my master’s degree in educational leadership.
After earning my master’s, I took a job as a department chair for special education. I spent eight years working in administration before deciding that I needed to make a change—not only for myself but also for my family. This is how I came to find myself at Oswego East High School and back in the classroom as a teacher. Having the opportunity to work directly with students again has revitalized my passion for education. I have since taken become a Co-Department Chair for Special Education. There’s nowhere else I’d rather be. Go Wolves! Go East! Go Blue!
