• Five Year Curriculum Review Cycle

     
    Through the five-year curriculum review cycle, our District is committed to renew all core and elective subjects to align to the Illinois State Learning Standards. 
     
     
    Completed Subject Areas
    • Math
      • The Secondary Math Curriculum Team collaborated on the new math curriculum during the 2013-2014 school year. This included the creation of scope and sequences, curriculum guides, and assessments. It also included the evaluation of resources. 
      • We implemented the new curriculum at the start of the 2014-2015 school year.
      • Our Board of Education approved the following math resources for the new math curriculum: Glencoe Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2 non-consumable textbooks, ConnectEd digital textbook access, and ALEKS digital Tier 2 math intervention.
      • Our Board of Education also approved Mastery Connect, a standards-based student mastery tracker. 
    • English Language Arts
      • The Secondary English Language Arts (ELA) Curriculum Team collaborated on the new ELA curriculum during the 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 school years. This included the creation of scope and sequences, and curriculum guides. It also included the evaluation of resources. 
      • We implemented the new curriculum at the start of the 2015-2016 school year.
      • Our Board of Education approved the following ELA resources for the new ELA curriculum: SpringBoard English Language Arts Grades 9-12 consumable textbooks and digital access, and Achieve3000 digital Tier 2 literacy intervention. 
      • Our ELA teachers will also use Mastery Connect, a standards-based student mastery tracker. 
     
    Ongoing Subject Areas
    • Science
      • The Secondary Science Curriculum Team started collaborating on the new science curriculum in 2013-2014 and continues their work on building course pathways, scope and sequences, curriculum guides; and evaluating resources.
      • We will be using a supplemental Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) aligned resource during the 2016-2017 school year while we continue our search for an appropriate NGSS core resource for implementation in 2017-2018.
    • Kinetic Wellness
      • The Secondary Kinetic Wellness Curriculum Team started collaborating on the new kinetic wellness curriculum in the 2015-2016 school year. This included the creation of scope and sequences and evaluation of resources.  
      • We will be recommending several resources that cover physical education, health, and drivers education to our Board of Education.
      • We will continue our work in creating curriculum guides and assessments, and will implement the new curriculum at the start of the 2016-2017 school year. 
    • World Languages
      • The Secondary World Languages Curriculum Team started collaborating on the new world languages curriculum in 2015-2016. We will continue our curriculum work and evaluation of resources during the 2016-2017 school year.
      • We will recommend resources for Chinese, French, German, and Spanish during the 2016-2017 school year and implement the new curriculum at the start of the 2017-2017 school year.
