Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Anne Elwood
Welcome to seventh grade science experience parents!
I have been given the privilege of working with your student this year. This is my 28th year in education. My training as a science teacher comes from many walks of life. I have an associate’s degree and a bachelor’s degree in Junior High and Middle School education, and a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction emphasizing Environmental Education. I also have many graduate hours beyond my master’s that have trained me to increase my effectiveness as an educator. I stay actively involved in the National Science Standards, literacy, safety, and STEM education, and I am active in many professional organizations. I also enjoy being politically active as I work with legislators and local officials on school funding and issues that impact your child's learning.
I work dilligently to guide my student's learning, keeping them safe, making them feel welcome and cared about. I am committed to assist my students towards developing not only an interest in a varity of areas within science, but also to discover some interests they did not know they had. This year will be a success for my learners if they not only learn some new content and can apply it, but have grown regarding their work ethic, their ability to have an exchange of ideas, and pay a little closer attention to how our fascinating universe works.
