Degrees and Certifications:

Mr. Saul Olivas

Hello, my name is Saúl Olivas, and this is my second year at Hunt Club Elementary School. I was born in Aurora, IL and raised in Mexico for my first eight years. Spanish was my first language. I started learning English when I entered second grade. I know, first hand, that learning a second language takes time and it is possible.

I obtained my undergraduate degree in Spanish with a minor in Sociology from the University of Illinois at Chicago. After being in retail management for over a decade; I decided to make a career change. I enrolled in a Masters in Elementary Education program from Grand Canyon University.

My career in education started as a Learning Center Assistant. This allowed me to teach students library skills and to promote literacy. Then, I was a Special Education Teaching Assistant and a Tutor at the elementary level. In 2016, I started to get inspired by the lives of so many students in my own classroom.  I taught first grade for four years before beginning at Hunt Club.

I am a fan of the outdoors, especially running, and being involved in my community. Some of my biggest accomplishments include completing five (5) marathons, receiving the Peter J. Perez award for making a difference in my community, and being the recipient of the Early Educator of the Year for Kane County in 2018. I am very happy to be part of this new community. I cannot wait to see what we will achieve working together.
