  • Will meals continued to be offered without charge?

    The U.S. Department of Agriculture will continue to reimburse schools for free meals to all students regardless of their income level through the 2021-22 school year. Breakfast and lunch (not including extra servings or ala carte items) will be free and available to all SD 308 students Monday-Friday.

  • What educational support will be offered while a student is on exclusion?

    Temporary distanced learning is available to all SD 308 students on an exclusion/isolation per the IDPH exclusionary guidance. At the secondary level access to live instruction will be provided through Google links and for elementary students dedicated substitute teachers will guide the remote instruction.

  • Do students and drivers need to wear a mask on a bus?

    Yes, all occupants of a bus, including adults, need to wear a mask regardless of vaccination status. The only exception is when a driver is alone on the bus.

  • Are exemptions available if a student can’t tolerate a mask?

    A mask exemption form should be completed and signed by a medical provider; alternative protections such as a face shield or further social distancing may be considered.

  • Will volunteers/visitors be allowed in school buildings?

    Posted by:

    Yes, as long as additional mitigation measures are not employed at the time, which could limit non-essential visitors during school hours. Visitors will be required to follow normal check-in procedures, are asked not to enter the building while feeling ill, and notified of mask recommendations.

  • Will hallways be one-way only?

    Posted by:

    No, while social distancing is encouraged to the extent possible, there will not be marked one-way traffic patterns for hallways and stairs.

  • Will lockers be used?

    Yes, hallway lockers and PE/Athletic lockers will be used.

  • Will students change for PE?

    Posted by:

    Students will follow normal procedures for changing clothes for PE classes. PE lockers will be assigned with as much distance as possible between classmates each period.

    Outdoor recess will be utilized, with playground equipment available for student use.

  • Will students be assigned classroom seats?

    Classroom seating is assigned and teachers will maintain seating charts in case they are needed for reference during contact tracing.

    Buses will also have assigned seating, limiting the movement of students past other students during loading/unloading.

  • Will students use shared items, like art supplies, and sports equipment?

    Students will be asked to use hand sanitizer before and after touching a shared object. 

    Any items that may come in contact with a student’s mouth are to be washed according to manufacturer recommendations.

  • Will lunch tables be cleaned?

    Posted by:

    Eating surfaces in the lunchroom will be cleaned throughout the lunch serving period as often as possible. Sanitizing wipes will be available in eating areas for student use as desired.

    Full cleaning and sanitization of all lunch tables and cafeteria spaces will occur each evening.

  • Will Elementary Schools host a Preview Night and Curriculum Night?

    Parents and students are welcome to attend Preview Night at their school on the designated date. 

    Elementary Curriculum Night will be conducted virtually to allow for more flexibility in parent participation.

  • Can parents accompany Jr. High Students to locker set-up? How will Jr. High handle Curriculum Night?

    Yes, Jr. High parents are invited to attend locker set-up with their student(s), and are welcome to walk through the school to familiarize the student(s) with their schedule.

    Curriculum Night will be held in-person at each Jr. High School and parents are welcome to attend as they are able.

  • Can parents join students at schedule pick-up at the High Schools? Will Curriculum Night be held?

    Parents are asked not to attend schedule pick-up with students, however parents are invited to attend Curriculum Night at the high school with their student(s), when staff will be present throughout the building.

  • Will students be required to exclude if someone in their class tests positive?

    Close contacts who are not fully vaccinated (or can not demonstrate a positive COVID-19 test from the past 90 days or presence of antibodies) are subject to exclusion requirements as defined by the IDPH. If masks were worn, close contact is defined as closer than 3 feet, if not then 6 feet or closer. If masks are universally worn, a testing to stay option may be utilized, allowing students to attend school while being tested throughout exclusion.

  • Will sick students/staff be permitted at school?

    Anyone experiencing a known COVID-19 symptom should stay home. Absences should be reported including the symptoms the student or staff member are experiencing.
