Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Mary Struve
I am excited to be part of the awesome, energizing, and committed Hunt Club Community! I completed my bachelor’s degree at Illinois State University in 1999. Before teaching in SD308, I taught fourth grade in Southern California. While living there, I earned my master’s in teaching, learning, and leadership from California State University, San Marcos. My interest and passion in differentiation led me to complete requirements to teach English learners and gifted and talented students in California. I later earned my special education endorsement in 2016 from Aurora University. In 2008 I achieved my National Board Certificate. I love learning! I enjoy sharing my experiences as a learner, and my excitement about learning, with my students.
I invite my fourth graders to become “Jedi Star Scholars” by sharing their talents, trying challenging tasks, and reflecting on their learning. My goal is to instill a lifelong love of learning by empowering students with tools, strategies and communication skills. In our classroom, scholars are talking, asking questions, solving math problems, moving around, creating, writing, reading and thinking. I look forward to an awesome year of learning!
