Dear Students and Parents
WELCOME TO CHOIR!!!!
It’s going to be a great new year!
Here’s what’s going on in 2022…
Choir is a class in which you sing in a large group with your friends and peers. The Thompson Choirs do a lot of performing, traveling, and partying, (as circumstances allow) but we really work hard on our songs and our musicianship. We do this through developing our singing voices in class and doing a weekly music theory assignment on our online Quia program.
We will do a variety of educational and fun activities. This year we will give concerts and participate in choral festivals with other schools, compete in a friendly karaoke competition, host a back to school celebration for the whole school, travel to see a professional show, and have the opportunity to go caroling around the holidays. I am thinking of some more fun outside-of-school activities as well! We will follow all guidelines set out by our school board in terms of Covid health safety rules and mitigations. Safety and singing will be our first priorities!
The Thompson Choirs are the proud sponsors of the annual Tiger Talent show. If you are interested in being a part of running the talent show, you have come to the right place. We will also be looking for talented performers!
The most important part of our class is the performances. The fall and spring concerts will be traditional choir concerts performed on our stage. The Winter concert will be our Solo and Ensemble Festival, and the Fine Arts Fest (held here at Thompson Jr. High this year) will be in March! We will also sing as part of the Big Cat Choir Festival ( 8th) and the Elementary Festival (6th). Check the Choir Calendar for details.
Parents, this is one class that needs you too! We love your support at our parties, trips, and concerts. Thompson Choirs invite you to come, chaperone, and enjoy your students in our musical endeavors!

Our music room is always in need of several everyday conveniences. Please feel free to donate facial tissue, paper towels, hand sanitizer, and/or usable electric keyboards. We would appreciate any help!
Don’t forget to check out my teacher website for the grading policy, concert information-including the calendar, concert polo order forms, and choir social events. Please feel free to ask questions or voice concerns. Communication is the key to your child’s success.
PLEASE watch your email for our first social event: Tiger Fest! Choir hosts this for the school and we will need LOTS of help from you!
