Ms. Anna Hog

In 2008, SD308 hired me to start the German Program in Oswego, Illinois. I accepted the challenge and have enjoyed working in this district ever since! My students and their families have been amazing and very supportive!!! I have learned a lot from them. I hope they will find life long enjoyment from their learning experiences with German and the German culture.

German is a very interesting language with many dialects. The German speaking nations are full of history, culture and tradition. As many German students can confirm, there is a lot to learn, but it is fun and opens lots of opportunities. Several SD308 students have continued their experiences through a 13th year, internships, or University in Germany (which is a fraction of the cost of US University!).

As always, I look forward to sharing my knowledge and experiences with my students and their families. I look forward to meeting each new student and their family. Together we can make this a wonderful learning experience.

I am a German-American citizen. I was raised in both countries equally, learning both English and German as a child. My home town in Germany is Endingen am Kaiserstuhl.

I have a European hotel and business management teaching certification from IHK Freiburg, in Freibug im Breisgau, Germany. I have my bachelor’s degree from Elmhurst College, Elmhurst, Ill., my master’s degree in teaching from Aurora University, Aurora, Ill., and my Type 75 from National Louis University, Chicago. I am an active member in ACTFLICTFLAATGDANK, and LOOM

I have taught various topics and ages for over 20 years. School District 308 asked me in 2008 to build a German program in the district. Our program is continuously growing. I am extremely proud of my students, and I am grateful for their family's support.

Since at District 308, I have had the priviledge of sponsoring the DeutschKlub, German National Honor Society and the German Travel Trips at District 308. We have enjoyed 3 Concerts:Uwe Kind, Doppel U, & Einshoch6. We participate anually incompetitions and events such as: UIC German High School Days, Christkindlmarkt, Meet-A-German, and GlobalFest Illinois. Students are taking the AP German Language and Culture exam, as well as the International Vergleichsarbeit A2, and AAPPL for the Seal of Biliteracy. We have had students take the Deutsche Sprachdiplom and many have continued their studies in German-speaking countries. We enjoy learning about culture, cooking, and dialects through various cultural events and activities.

I would like to thank the community for their growing support.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen

Frau Anna Hog
