A graduate of Oswego High School, I pursued my bachelor’s degree in English with a minor in communications at Northern Illinois University (NIU), DeKalb. I began teaching in Freeport, IL, in 2002. The following school year, I was welcomed onto the staff at Oswego High School. I earned my master’s of education in literacy education from NIU in 2007.
