Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Robyn Mellas
I began teaching at Oswego East during the 2012-2013 school year. During that year I taught Chem/Phys and Chemistry. Since that time I have also taught Honors Anatomy and Physiology. I really enjoy working at this school and with the students.
I received my undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from Benedictine University in Lisle Il. I then went to the University of Chicago and received a Masters Degree in Neurobiology, Pharmacology, and Physiology. I went on to receive my Masters in Secondary Education form National Louis University.
During my sophomore year of high school I had a Chemistry teacher named Mrs. MacPhearson that made science so fun and interesting. From that time on my love for science grew. I originally thought I would go into research, but I found that as I was working on my graduate degree the times I was the happiest was when I was working with the undergraduates. I taught an instructional assistant for an Introduction to Biology class at the time and loved it! I decided that what I really wanted to do was work with students to get them excited about science.
