Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Michelle Smith
It is with great pleasure that I am returning to my sixth year teaching at Bednarcik. Having a degree in English education as well as being a Learning Behavior Specialist, I am eager to continue Co-Teaching 8th grade Language Arts with Mrs. Sadler and am excited to be joining Mrs. Panzeca's class this year. Together we will be reintroducing our ELA SpringBoard curriculum. This school year I am happy to continue to be a part of the AVID site team and have much to offer as their former elective teacher. I have been a part of the site team since Bednarcik first adopted AVID at the end of the 2015-2016 school year.
Before working at Bednarcik, I taught at a therapeutic day school for five years. I attended Illinois State University where I majored in middle level and secondary English Education. I graduated in 2007. After a short time substituting and working as a teacher’s aide, here at Bednarcik, I decided to take courses at Waubonsee Community College to become endorsed to teach Social Studies as well. During this time, I was offered a position as an RtI coordinator. Unfortunately, it was only a grant position and was cut at the end of the school year. From there I pursued an endorsement as a Learning Behavior Specialist. In 2009 I began working for a therapeutic day school as a junior high teacher while taking classes at Lewis University for my LBS1 endorsement.
Welcome all Bulldogs to the 2019-2020 school year! It's great to be a Bulldog!
