I spent a great deal of time around athletics from a young age since my father was a high school physical education teacher as well as a basketball and football coach. I attended Western Illinois University, Macomb, where I earned a bachelor`s degree in physical education in 1994. I was hired to teach physical education in District 308 in 1996. I earned my Master’s degree from Aurora University, Aurora, Ill., in 2002.
