Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Colleen Brazzale
Special Education Co-Department Chair
I began my career in “teaching” at a very young age. I would visit my aunt’s second grade classroom often, and somehow always found myself working with the teachers of students with exceptional needs. I feel lucky to have discovered my passion so early.
I attended Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, where I double majored in special education and elementary education with a concentration in Spanish. Upon graduation, my first teaching experience was at Wheaton Warrenville South High School. I spent seven wonderful years there co-teaching English and algebra/trigonometry in addition to teaching self-contained classes in algebra, health and science. While at Wheaton Warrenville, I completed a master’s program through Aurora University, in Aurora, Ill., and earned my master’s degree in educational leadership.
After earning my master’s, I took a job as a department chair for special education. There’s nowhere else I’d rather be. Go Wolves! Go East! Go Blue!
