• Incoming Kindergarten Registration 2017-2018

    KINDERGARTEN PROGRAMMING

Based on the recent Board approved boundary changes, full day and half day kindergarten programming will be offered at each of our elementary schools effective with the 2017/2018 school year.  Full day kindergarten programming provides additional time and opportunity for instruction, enrichment and intervention.

    Full Day Kindergarten

Full day kindergarten follows the elementary school schedule of 8:45 a.m. - 3:35 p.m. which includes 50 minutes for lunch and recess.  In addition, students will participate in physical education, art, music, library and computers.

    Half Day Kindergarten

Half day kindergarten will be offered in a morning session only.  The hours for half day kindergarten will be 8:45 a.m. - 11:20 a.m.  Due to the shortened day, the primary academic focus of half day kindergarten programming will be math and reading.  However, since our reading units are based on social studies and science, half day kindergarten students will have some opportunity to engage with these content areas.  Our half day kindergarten students will join their full day peers for the first half of the day in a blended program.   Half day student programming will end at 11:20 a.m. as full day students prepare for lunch and recess.

We are excited to welcome all of our kindergarten students to their home schools!

    KINDERGARTEN SCREENING INFORMATION

School District 308 would like to welcome all 2017-2018 incoming kindergartners and parents to our annual Kindergarten Screening. Kindergarten screening is a brief, individually administered measure given to all incoming kindergarten students to gauge the development of skills prior to the start of the kindergarten year. Kindergarten screening is not a process of determining eligibility for kindergarten; all students who meet the age requirement are considered ready for kindergarten and encouraged to enroll. School District 308 teachers will administer and supervise all screening activities. Screening results provide useful information for planning instruction and designing learning experiences that address the educational needs of all incoming kindergartners in reading and mathematics.
