Mr. Mike Wayne

Principal

Mike Wayne grew up in south suburban Crete, Ill., and graduated from Crete-Monee High School in 1982. After receiving his teaching degree from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, Wayne joined the faculty at Rich South High School in Richton Park, Ill., where he taught social studies and coached tennis and football.

Upon earning his master’s degree in educational administration from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, Wayne became dean of students at Niles West High School in Skokie, Ill. He then moved to Downers Grove North High School where he served 10 years as associate principal. He was appointed principal of Oswego High School in July, 2006.

Dr. Gregory Baker

Assistant Principal

Dr. Gregory Baker is Assistant Principal for Student Services at Oswego High School.  He began his educational career in 2003 as a social studies teacher at Proviso West High School in Hillside, IL.  At the beginning of Dr. Baker’s ninth year of service at Proviso West, he became the department chair for social studies and world languages.  Then in 2013, Dr. Baker served as a dean of students at Glenbard East High School in Lombard, IL.

Dr. Baker earned his doctorate degree in cultural and educational policy studies from Loyola University (Chicago, IL), master’s degree in school leadership from Concordia University Chicago (River Forest, IL), and his bachelor’s degree in History from Illinois State University (Normal, IL).

Assistant Principal

William Nunamaker is Assistant Principal for Operations and Activities Director at Oswego High School. He began his educational career in 2003 as an English teacher at Farragut Career Academy in Chicago where he also served as the English Department chair. In 2010, Nunamaker moved to Plainfield East High School as a dean of students.

Nunamaker earned his master’s degree in educational administration from North Central College, Naperville, Ill., and his bachelor’s degree in English education from Northeastern Illinois University, Chicago.

Mrs. Tania Sharp

Assistant Principal

Tania Sharp began her educational career in 2003 as an English teacher at Plainfield South High School. In 2008, she opened Plainfield East High School as the English Department chair and then served as the Humanities Division chair from 2012 to 2014.

During her time as an English teacher and division chair, Sharp taught all levels of students from at-risk to advanced placement, assisted in leading the Common Core Curriculum renewal process, and acted as an instructional coach for teachers as well as an academic dean for students at risk of failing.

Sharp earned her master’s degree in educational administration from Governors State University, in University Park, Ill., and her bachelor’s degree in English education from Illinois State University, Normal.

Mr. Andrew Derwin

Andrew Derwin is the Special Education Coordinator at Oswego High School.  He began his educational career working as a teacher in a self-contained classroom at the Aurora Education Center.  He then moved on to six years of teaching at Timber Ridge Middle School in Plainfield.  In 2010, Mr. Derwin became the Assistant Principal for the Camelot Therapeutic Day School of Bourbonnais where he happily served until 2014 when he transitioned into the role of Principal of the Camelot Therapeutic Day School in Hoffman Estates. 

Mr. Derwin earned his master’s degree in school improvement leadership from Olivet Nazarene University (Bourbonnais, IL) and a duel bachelor’s degree in photography and Art education from Illinois State University (Normal, IL) with a learning behavior specialist (LBS1) endorsement.

Mr. Darren Howard

Mr. Darren Howard graduated from Weber High School in Chicago in 1983. After spending several years as a regional sales manager for a pharmaceutical  company, he returned to school and switched to a career in education.  He earned his degree in business education from Trinity Christian College.  Mr. Howard was at Fenton High School from 1992-2000.  He was then named Athletic Director and Head Boys Basketball Coach at Immaculate Conception High School in Elmhurst where he remained from 2000-2012.  While at IC, he earned his Master of Education and Administration from National Louis University.  Mr. Howard was named the Class 1A/2A Division Athletic Director of the Year in 2009-10.  

In 2012, he was named the Athletic Director at Oswego High School. At the end of the 2015-16 school year, he earned the rank of Certified Master Athletic Administrator (CMAA) from the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association, it is the highest level of certification available to an athletic administrator. In 2016-17 he also took on the role of SD308 Lead Athletic Director.  Mr. Howard is married to Joan, together they have five children and four grandchildren.
