Mr. Michael Bock
Hello 308 families!
I am thrilled to teach physical education in District 308. I began my professional career in finance after graduating from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business. After working five years as an investment analyst, I decided to pursue a career that truly inspired me. I left my career in finance to become an educator, which has been one of my best decisions. I attended Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, to receive my master’s in curriculum development and pedagogy and have now been teaching since 2011. I have the privilege of teaching at Grande Park Elementary School. Go Grizzlies! Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family, having a nice laugh, and staying fit.
"Teach a healthy body, get a healthy mind"
I believe that physical education should be fun, engaging and inspiring. I hope to encourage our students to live healthy and active lifestyles. I also believe that physical education plays an integral role in enhancing both a student's physical and mental health. Research has shown a strong positive relationship between physical activity and academic performance, and I am excited to help improve the overall wellbeing of our students. According to the CDC "concentration, memory, self-esteem and verbal skills were among the improvements noted in students who participated in school-based physical activity" (2010).
