Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Kayla Nahas Harper
I attended Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, where I received my bachelor’s degree in physics with an endorsement in mathematics. I have had the great pleasure of teaching physics at Oswego High School, where I employ the modeling methodology of physics instruction.
Modeling instruction allows me to create a student-centered classroom that emphasizes active student construction of conceptual and mathematical models in an interactive learning community. Students work together to construct understanding of the physical world by building scientific models, evaluating them, and applying them in concrete situations.
The main reason why I love teaching is because I get to help students think conceptually about the process of problem solving and help them develop skills that will continue beyond the physics classroom. It is rewarding to see the students grow with confidence in a challenging subject.
