Degrees and Certifications:
Mr. Daniel Okoren
I attended Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, where I received my bachelor’s degree in nutrition and dietetics with an emphasis in education. The following year, I completed additional coursework as well as student teaching at Oswego High School (OHS) to become endorsed to teach family consumer sciences at both the junior high and high school levels. I was offered and accepted a position at OHS immediately following my student teaching experience, and I ran the restaurant management program from 2003 to 2007. In August of 2007, I obtained my master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of St. Francis, in Joliet, Ill. This led to my current position at OHS as the division chair for career and technical education, which I began in the fall of 2007.
I decided to become a teacher after being inspired by two of my former high school teachers, Nancy Kroll and Debby Scully. I enjoy teaching because I love helping and working with others while challenging them to develop skills they can use for the rest of their lives.
