Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Shawna Sullivan

I attended Illinois State University, Normal, where I earned an undergraduate degree in both art and science. I began my teaching career in downstate Illinois, first at a public junior high school and then at a private high school where I taught art and physical science.

After relocating back to the Chicago area, I began my 30-year career at Oswego High School, teaching physical science and coaching volleyball. Five years and three children later, I completed a master’s degree in outdoor education from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb. Although I have been primarily a classroom teacher, my other interests have been in mentoring new teachers, designing and  differentiating curriculum, coaching a competitive academic team, and developing the freshman seminar program. I am fortunate that for the last 10 years I have found my passion in teaching earth and space science and meteorology. I have three grown children who all attended Oswego schools. I currently live in Montgomery with my husband who is a junior high math teacher.
