Mrs. Jennifer Mihm
I am a product of Oswego schools having graduated from Oswego High School in 1997. I began attending Aurora University in September 1997 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology in June 2001. After earning my B.S. in 2001, I went to work for Loyola University Medical Center in the Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center. I was part of a team researching the relationship between mesothelioma, asbestos, and Simian 40 Virus (SV40). I have several publications in medical and scientific research journals describing the work I was involved in; to date, the publications I was involved with have nearly 200 citations.
While I was learning a lot from working in the lab, I did not feel fulfilled by the work I was doing. After spending a day speaking to high school AP Biology students about the research I was working on, I realized that I loved interacting with the students and sharing my love for science. I had the idea that teaching was something I would enjoy and decided to pursue a career in education. I went back to Aurora University in fall 2003 and earned my Master of Arts in Teaching for Certification in 2005. I joined the staff at OEHS in August 2005 after student teaching during the 2004-2005 school year at Oswego High School. During my time here, I have taught AP Biology, Biology Honors, Biology, Biology II, Environmental Science, Astronomy and CPS. I earned another Master`s Degree program for my Administrative Certificate through Governors State University in June 2008.
I have been part of several committees at OEHS and for the district and coached cheerleading for 7 years. I am currently co-sponsor of Oswego East's chapter of Science National Honor Society. I reside in Elgin with my husband and 2 sons.
