Degrees and Certifications:
Mr. Timothy Ochoa
This is my 15th year at Oswego East High School (OEHS). Since coming to OEHS, I have served as a teacher, club sponsor and coach. During my teaching career, I have helped build Poetic Justice, which is our award winning creative writing and spoken word program. To date, we have helped 500 students get published or win an award.
I have assisted in aligning our curriculum with the Common Core Standards, created assessments, and led technology workshops. I will continue to strive to help our students become independent and responsible learners. My ultimate goal is to help every student understand the power and potential they have to become a social activist that can improve themselves, their communities, and the world around them.
While in college, I changed majors a few times before I discovered my passion for teaching. I have always loved school and helping others, so teaching became an easy fit. I received my English teaching degree from Lewis University, in Romeoville, Ill., where I graduated with highest honors (summa cum laude). Lifelong learning is important to me. My graduate degree is from Olivet Nazarene University, in Bourbonnais, Ill., in Educational Leadership. I have also completed 47 graduate hours, past my graduate degree, through the University of La Verne, in La Verne, Calif.
I look forward to a great school year.
