Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Kelly Cooper
Before joining the teaching staff at Oswego East High School (OEHS) in 2007, I taught for two years at the high school level in Illinois and two and a half years at the secondary school level in the United Kingdom. At my Illinois posts, I was the band director at Newton Community High School and as assistant band director at Plainfield Central High School. After next attending Indiana University, where I received my master's degree in wind conducting, I taught music to students ages 11 to 16 in Eastbourne, England. Through these posts, I gained experience teaching a variety of music courses including concert band, marching band, jazz band, orchestra, choir, music theory, composition and general music.
I am happy to be a member of the OEHS staff. I teach concert band, symphonic band, wind ensemble, wind symphony, marching band and pep band. I am a building union representative and a member of the National Band Association, Music Educator National Conference, Illinois Music Educators Association, World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles, Women’s Band Directors International, Tau Beta Sigma and Delta Omicron.
