Mr. Justin Query

English Teacher

I received my master’s degree in teaching secondary English education from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, in 2000, with an emphasis in non-fiction writing and African-American studies.

In 2005, I became a member of the Oswego East High School (OEHS) family after five years of teaching in the small town of Lone Tree, Iowa, where I was responsible for teaching all levels of English at one point or another. In addition to publishing the kindergarten through 12th grade yearbook and the high school's student newspaper, I supervised the school's student council and National Honor Society, as well as sponsored its theater productions and speech program.

After arriving at OEHS, I launched the newspaper journalism program and The Edge, the student-designed news magazine, which has become an award-winning publication and the home of many award-winning student journalists. Over the course of the last four years, the news magazine has moved entirely online and has been rebranded as The Howl. You can visit us online at oehowl.org & follow us on Twitter (@oehowl).
