Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Angela Scharbert

Family and Consumer Science Teacher

I began teaching at Oswego East High School (OEHS) in January 2011 after student teaching at OEHS the previous semester. I have taught a range of courses in family and consumer science, including culinary arts and nutrition, introduction to relationships, child development, fashion construction, interior design, and independent studies in fashion merchandising. Since beginning my career in District 308, I have also had the opportunity to teach at Traughber and Murphy junior high schools.

I earned my first bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Ferris State University, in Big Rapids, Mich., in 2006. I returned to school and received a second bachelor’s degree in family and individual development from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, in 2008 and then returned to get my teaching certification in 2010. In December 2013, I earned my master’s degree in curriculum and instruction with an emphasis on career and technology from Concordia University Online, which is based in Portland, Ore.

I truly love teaching and have a passion for education. I enjoy getting to know students and helping them realize their potential. Teaching and education is always evolving, so I am always learning and growing along with my students. I cannot think of any other career that is more rewarding or that I would rather be doing.
