Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Heather Stanich

Fine Arts Department Chair

In 2001, I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from McKendree University, Lebanon, Ill. I started teaching art for School District 308 in Fall 2001. Since then I have earned my master’s degree in educational leadership from Governors State University, Chicago. Currently, I teach art at Oswego East High School (OEHS), and I am the chair of the fine arts department. The courses I have taught are drawing, painting, pottery, digital imaging, webpage design, creative arts, sculpting, art foundations, advanced placement studio drawing, and advanced placement studio 2D design.

I'm the National Art Honor Society adviser and work with students on art-based community service.  I am also an adviser for the Oswego Travel Abroad Group (Oswego TAG). I have traveled with over 300 students from School District 308 for the past twelve years in over 10 different countries. Traveling has changed my life, both inside and outside the classroom, because it allows me to share educational experiences all over the world with my students. I became a teacher to share my experiences and knowledge with my students in hopes that they gain their own experiences.
