Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Erin Sudberry

English Teacher

I earned my degree in education with a major in English and a minor in family and consumer sciences at Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, in 1998. I earned my master’s degree as a reading specialist in 2004 at Chicago State University. I taught for nine years at Morton East High School, in Cicero, Ill. There I taught English, child development, reading, and consumer education. This is my 13th year at Oswego East High School where I’ve taught both reading and English.

I enjoy teaching high school because teenagers are interesting people; I enjoy getting to know them. I believe they all have something to offer and something to learn. Their ideas matter, and they should be able to express those ideas in the process of learning new concepts in an open and safe place. I work toward making my classroom an environment where students feel valued, challenged, and supported.
