Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Carla Wood

I began my career in education after a career in nursing. I attended Aurora University, in Aurora, Ill, to complete an education and psychology double major before working for four years as a first grade teacher at East View Elementary. I completed a master’s degree in curriculum and staff development and an endorsement for administration during my seven years as elementary math coordinator. I am a practicing specialist and trainer/leader in the international Math Recovery intervention program.

For seven years, I’ve been back in the classroom at Lakewood Creek. After teaching in first for four years, I am beginning my third year in second grade.  I love seeing the extension of skills from first to second as we prepare students for grades 3-5.

My philosophy of being a lifelong learner is being fully realized as we move forward with Common Core in English Language Arts, Math and Science.
