Mrs. Sandra Ward

Welcome to Fourth Grade!

I graduated from the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, with a degree in elementary education and a minor in early childhood in 1984.  I taught first and second grades in Aurora Public Schools, in Aurora, Colo., for 16 years. During this time, I earned my master’s degree in reading instruction and I am a certified reading specialist. I completed additional training in the C.L.I.P reading intervention project, which is a Reading Recovery based intervention for first graders. In Aurora Public Schools, I served as a district resource teacher for mentoring new teachers. Additionally, I was a literacy and mathematics demonstration classroom teacher. I have also supervised numerous student teachers, both in Colorado and Illinois. In 2003, my family relocated to Illinois and I had the opportunity to teach first grade at The Wheatlands for a number of years.
