Stay Healthy during Flu Season
With the weather slowly changing, flu season is quickly approaching. The CDC recommends flu vaccines as the #1 defense against the flu. Populations such as young children, older people, and those with certain health conditions are at risk for serious flu complications. This is why acquiring a vaccine is suggested. Contact your local pharmacy to obtain your flu vaccine.
The best way to avoid the flu through is primary prevention. This includes: keeping fingers away from facial regions (mouth, nose, eyes), refraining from sharing cups, straws, eating utensils, makeup and cell phones. It is also recommended to disinfect frequently touched surfaces. To keep a healthy immune system, it is important to continue to get adequate nutrition and rest.
One of the easiest prevention methods is through frequent hand washing. Remember to wash hands
BEFORE: preparing food, eating, caring for someone who is sick, treating a wound; and
AFTER: preparing food, blowing nose, sneezing, coughing, caring for someone who is sick, and using the restroom.
** When your child is out sick, please notify the
school office of their flu symptoms, sore throat,
fever, gastro-intestinal symptoms, etc. **
