Degrees and Certifications:
Mr. John Romanovich
From the day I started at Northern Illinois University, I wanted to teach junior high students. After three and a half years I earned my bachelor’s degree in elementary education, but more importantly, I earned middle school endorsements in math, science, language arts and social studies. By the time I graduated (summa cum laude) I was on my path to reach my goal.
Fortunately, I have had the unique opportunity to work with children from all over the Chicagoland area, as well. My teaching stops include West Chicago, Rockford, DeKalb, and both a neighborhood and magnet school within the Chicago Public School system. I draw on these experiences daily to inform my work in the classroom. During my tenure here at Traughber I have taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade math along with Math Dynamics, iMath, and 8th grade U.S.History.
People often “bless me” when I tell them I teach (and wanted to teach) junior high students. Double blessed when I tell them I wanted to teach math. For me, it’s been a lifelong goal. I truly enjoy being a part of this transitional time in a child's life. To have the opportunity to be part of the successes earned and stumbles learned from with kids this age is a joy.
