Degrees and Certifications:

Mr. Jose Zavala

Welcome to Sixth Grade Social Studies and Eighth Grade U.S. History. I attended National-Louis University, Wheaton, IL, where I received my bachelor’s degree in elementary education, with junior high endorsements in language arts and social studies. A few years later, I received my master’s degree in curriculum and instruction at Concordia University, in River Grove, IL, and since then I have attended the prestigious University of La Verne, Calif., for additional graduate course work.

I taught fourth and fifth grades in Glendale Heights, Ill., at Hall School and Winnebago Elementary. I moved to Naperville, IL and started teaching at Gombert Elementary School in Aurora, Ill., where I taught fifth grade for two years. After two years at Gombert I moved to Fox Chase Elementary School and taught one year of fifth grade. From there I opened Plank Junior High School before coming over to Traughber Junior High School, where I currently teach. This is my 23rd year of teaching, and I enjoy every day of it!
