Degrees and Certifications:
Miss Rachel Morrison
My name is Rachel. Welcome to 2nd grade! This is my eighth year as a Southbury Shark and I feel incredibly grateful to be a part of such a wonderful school. My enthusiasm and love for teaching have made me so excited for school to start. I can’t wait to see what unique experiences this year will bring!
I have always known that I wanted to be a teacher. Ever since I can remember, I played “school”. This also carried over into my own educational career. I loved attending school and learning new things. I still do! I’m proud to say I was an Oswego Panther, graduating from Oswego High School. I then went on to college, competing on the Women’s Gymnastics team at University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. I absolutely enjoyed all of my education courses and couldn’t wait to become an educator and instill a passion for learning in each of my students. I graduated from college in 2009 and have taught and worked with various grade levels. I completed my Master's in Curriculum and Instruction/English as a Second Language in December of 2016.
As I said before, I’m extremely passionate about teaching and learning. My goal is to motivate every student and provide him/her with a positive, safe place to achieve his/her goals. With that being said, I also realize just how BIG of a role communication is in the shaping of a successful school year. Your feedback is very much appreciated, as are your questions. Your child’s success is my ultimate goal and having the support from both the teacher and family will make that goal easily obtainable.
