Welcome to 8th Grade Language Arts!
I attended DePaul University in Chicago where I received my bachelor’s degree in Psychology and my master’s degree in Teaching and Learning. I also hold endorsements in both junior high school language arts and social sciences. Since graduation, I have continued to pursue professional growth experiences through classes, workshops, and conferences, thus ensuring I am well-versed in all of the current research and best practices.
Within School District 308, I have served as a curriculum presenter and a peer mentor. As an elementary school staff member, I have coordinated and led Student Leadership Team, served on the Building Leadership Team, and was an active member of the AVID Site Team. Additionally, I have served Southbury families as a committee leader and past board member of Home & School.
With regard to my experience, I begin my journey as a Bednarcik Bulldog with 18 years of teaching experience. Throughout my teaching career, I have taught at both the primary and intermediate grade levels, including first, second, fourth, fifth, and sixth grade. While teaching at all grade levels, I have had countless wonderful experiences and have grown in many ways. As part of my philosophy of education, I firmly believe that a child receives the BEST possible learning experience when parents, students, and teachers work together as a team. I am convinced that parental involvement in a child’s education is both critical and invaluable. I truly look forward to working with you and your children and cannot wait to begin what promises to be both a fulfilling academic experience and memorable year!
