Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Sara Duffy
I began my career in special education when I was 17 years old, participating in physical education with my life skills peers. From there, I fell in love with special education. I’ve had the privilege to work in the home setting with children who have a variety of special needs, as well in the public school setting and at a private behavioral therapy clinic. I graduated from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, in 2011 with a degree in special education and a certificate as a learning behavior specialist. I am currently pursing my master’s degree, in applied behavioral analysis to become a board certified behavioral analyst. I graduated in May 2015 from Aurora University, Aurora, Ill.
My teaching philosophies center around the principles of positivity, structure, consistency, and most important, the idea that everyone can learn. Each student has the right to a successful, happy, and fulfilling experience at school where they feel important and included.
My classroom has a strong foundation of communication, academic, social, and functional skills.
