Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Laurene Gatlin

I received my bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and my master’s degree in education from the University of St. Francis, in Joliet, Ill. In 2005, I began my career in Community Unit School District 308 teaching science at the junior high school level. In 2010, I began teaching at Oswego High School as a biology teacher.

Prior to taking on a full-time position in School District 308, I spent time as a veterinary technician, sanitarian, environmental health laboratory manager, teaching assistant and substitute teacher. I have always enjoyed learning about the natural world around me. As my own children grew I recognized I enjoyed sharing this information. Fortunately, I had an opportunity to return to the classroom to earn my master’s degree. I am excited and honored to be able to share my love of science with my students in School District 308.
