Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Jayne Pagoria

Welcome to Churchill Elementary Reading Department.

I am so excited to be starting my 22nd year in District 308 and my second year at Churchill Elementary. I attended the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, where I received my bachelor’s degree in elementary education by 1982. In 2001, I received my Reading Recovery Specialist degree from National Louis University, Chicago. This is where I have found my passion and calling. Learning how learners learn and where they are in their learning path is one of the great joys each and every day. I have had the opportunity to be there for so many "firsts" for my students. The first time they noticed something they know. The first time they read a page that had so many words on it. The first smile when they know they were successful in reading a book that they thought they could not read!! It is incredible and I can't wait to do it again this year!

On a personal note, I have a wonderful and caring husband, Terry, and two beautiful children. With that said, they are not children but adults. My daughter Lindsey married the love of her life and now has the cutest son ever! As an Oma, I am very proud :) My son, Christopher is in the process (thanks to Covid) of replanning his wedding to a very sweet and kind young lady this summer. The one thing I can say is Covid couldn't stop the love my family surrounds me with daily. I know that at times we may get busy but we still find time to get together to enjoy sitting together and laughing no matter how that would have to look.

My hope for all of my students is to reach their potential learning level each and every day. Reading English is one of the trickiest languages to master....we may not all know it YET but with time and all of us invested in the process....we will get there :)

I hope you find this site to be a resource of support for you and your child.
