Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Krista Neitzel
After graduating from Oswego High School, I went to Illinois State University, Normal. Once I received my degree, I was hired by the Minooka Elementary School District and worked there for 8 years. I was then fortunate to get an offer from Thompson Junior High School, where I have been teaching language arts ever since. I received my master’s degree from Rockford College, in Rockford, Ill., and furthered my education over the years, reaching the maximum 47 hours.
Teaching in Oswego has allowed me to focus on my students and their education as well as spend quality time with my family. At our district convocation, the inspiring guest speaker talked about “nice bike.” He asked us about our “nice bike” teacher. Ironically, mine was in the gymnasium listening to the same presentation. I texted her from across the way, simply stating, “By the way, you are my nice bike teacher.” I watched as she read my text, and even from afar, I could see her wipe the tears. And that’s why I went into education: to make a difference in a person’s life. She was just as affected by me. The students and I are a team, and together, we are a great one.
