Degrees and Certifications:
Mr. David Williams
I began my life long educational journey growing up on the mean streets of Downers Grove where I attended Downers Grove South High School. After graduating, I attended Illinois State University where I obtained my first undergraduate degree in business management.
After ISU, I entered the business world and became a district manager at Ameri-Quest Mortgage. I wasted four years there until I realized that I was not passionate about my work. As a result, I began to reflect upon what I actually did enjoy about my job and quickly realized that I truly enjoyed training new staff and managers…essentially, when I was teaching. I promptly quit and enrolled at Lewis University the very next semester. While at Lewis, I majored in English literature and minored in secondary education. I graduated with the aforementioned degrees, as well as endorsements in history and middle school.
After graduation, I spent one year at Thornton High School. As soon as I knew that a position had opened up, I applied in District 308 and have been here ever since. First, I landed at Oswego East High School. I spent the next six years teaching and learning from a variety of classes, peers, and students. I had the pleasure of working with great co-teachers and took great pride helping to design multiple levels of curriculum, including my own senior level elective. In 2010, I again went back to school and obtained my master’s in educational administration from Olivet Nazarene University.
Although I enjoyed my time at East, I have always felt a pull towards the junior high. Therefore, I decided to utilize my middle school endorsement, and I transferred to Thompson Junior High School. I am currently back to teaching only 8th Grade Language Arts. I feel at home here and could not ask for a better collection of staff, administration, and especially students. I know that they will help me continue to learn throughout the rest of my career.
