Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Angela Robinson
I am the 7th and 8th grade Visual Arts instructor at Thompson Junior High School. I graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 1995 with my Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts in Art Education. I earned my Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology and Art Therapy from the Adler School of Professional Psychology in Chicago, in the year 2000, and later earned my Type 75 Administrative Certificate through Aurora University, in 2009.
Our Art Department offers your child a complete visual and graphic arts program that promotes an increase in positive attitudes toward self, others, and the environment through creative experiences. Problem solving and creative learning encourage students to connect visual knowledge to core subjects and to respond with innovation, understanding, flexibility and imagination. An understanding of our world, an acceptance of different cultures, an exploration and mixture of visual culture and art history, and a recognition that differences are to be welcomed, not rejected, are essential in creating a balanced art program. I am hoping that by exposing your child to a variety of careers and professionals within our community and preparing them for an extremely competitive job market, I will help them find and follow their passions.
