I completed my undergraduate studies in Cell and Structural Biology at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Upon completion of these studies I served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Lesotho, Southern Africa, as a physics, chemistry, biology and English teacher at Sefikeng High School. During that time, I realized I loved teaching and chose to change my career path. I attended DePaul University, receiving a master’s degree in Teaching and Learning prior to starting at Bednarcik Junior High in 2002. I continue to take classes in literature and philosophy at the University of Chicago. I enjoy seeing my students learn through experiments, and I am constantly amazed at the connections they are able to make between what they learn in science class and their real world experiences.
